MASTER BEDROOM | DIY THREE QUARTER WALL

MASTER BEDROOM | DIY THREE QUARTER WALL

It's spring now!! woo hoo!! And I thought this would be a fun one to share with everyone. Very recently I decided to add some colour into the master bedroom. Considering our entire house is white, I thought, why not! We need a little funk in this bedroom ;). If you would have asked me 2 years ago, I would have chosen a  safe neutral.. but these days, I'm feelin' bold! I never would have thought that I would choose such a vibrant colour, but I fell in love & now I can't wait to use it somewhere else in my house (office maybe?)

My only dilemma was that I didn't just want one giant feature wall of paint, I wanted something different, that would stand out. The bedroom isn't large by any means, & once Steve convinced me to put a king bed in there (yes, best decision ever, why did I even question), I decided to save space by not using a headboard/footboard. It would feel way too stuffy & take up too much space. My solution, turn this feature wall into a "visual" headboard, and bring it 3/4 of the way up the wall!  Of course, if it didn't look right or I didn't like it, I could just keep on painting.

First, of course was choosing the perfect colour & after quite a few samples, we chose Benjamin Moore, Sherwood Forest. (not too green & not too blue.. right smack in the middle).  Then came the prep work.. (boo). Just kidding, this was a very easy task. We used a laser level to get that perfect straight line at the 3/4 mark. & Since it was the main focus, it had to be straight. I held the laser up nice and steady & Steve placed tape along the laser line.

When it came time to paint, I probably could have gotten away with 3 coats, but there wasn't a lot of wall & it didn't take very long to do, so why not slap another coat on & really get that deep colour.

I am in love with the final outcome! I invested in a new linen duvet cover as well, wanting to keep the bed neutral and light; the real star of the room though is that colour on the wall! I am not quite finished yet though (obviously, always a project happening in my brain), I was thinking of adding a picture ledge from wall to wall, right on the 3/4 mark. I'll have to find some inspirational art pieces to put up there first. :) Until then, I will sleep well in this new heaven! It is true.. I love dogs & I allow him allll up in this coziness.

Happy Saturday Friends!!
